The Secular Fraternity in Mexico City welcomes 25 new candidates

A total of 25 people from the parishes of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Naucalpan (State of Mexico), Our Lady of Guadalupe de la Colonia Hospitales and Saint Nicholas of Tolentine of Churubusco (both in Mexico City) began the year of trial and special training prior to entering the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity .
This step materialized in a rite that took place in Churubusco and was presided over by the vicar of the Augustinian Recollects for Mexico and Costa Rica, Martín Luengo. Before the community present, which celebrated the patron saint of the parish and the titular Augustinian-Recollect religious province of the ministry, all of them publicly showed their desire to “experience the life of the “Secular Augustinian Recollects driven by the mercy of God.”
Before reaching this step they have received a first training on the fundamentals of life as a member of the Secular Fraternity, of the Augustinian Recollect charisma, of the reality of the Augustinian-Recollect Family, of Saint Augustine and the Rule of Life, the central document that marks the path to the realization of this secular vocation.
The presidents of the three Secular Fraternities involved (Consuelo López, Judith Morales and María Guadalupe Ruiz Barragán, respectively) stated after the candidates' request their formal admission to the probation time for membership in the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity.
The president of the celebration gave each one a copy of the Rule of Life, inviting them to “May Christ be the inspirer and center of his life before God and before men.” also Lourdes Laraque, president of the Fraternities in Mexico, spoke a few words about the joy that their admission means and invited them to open their hearts to the Holy Spirit to always remain in truth and love.
The sign of the embrace of welcome, while the assembly sang an Augustinian song (See how sweetness, what a delight!) was the conclusion of this simple but significant act.
