Guaraciaba proposes to young people the example of Blessed Carlo Acutis in the Vocational Year

Within the celebrations and events that take place on the occasion of the Vocational Year in Brazil, the Augustinian Recollect Family and the Parish of Our Lady of Joys of Guaraciaba do Norte (Ceará, Brazil) organized the reception ceremony on January 21 and 22 of the relics of Blessed Carlo Acutis to this town, which consisted of a great procession, two Eucharists and a meeting with young people.
The priest Fabio Vieira, parish priest of the Parish of Our Lady of Remedies of Ladário, in the Diocese of Corumbá (Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil), is also the directorof the association of devotees of Carlo Acutis in Brazil. Part of his apostolate is the promotion of this devotion throughout Brazil, once he lived in Assisi for a year with the family of the Italian blessed.
The reception of the relics caused a social movement in the small municipality of Guaraciaba do Norte, in the Sierra de Ibiapaba. The official presentation started from the Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe of the contemplative Augustinian Recollects with a great procession of vehicles to one of the squares in the urban center of the town, seven kilometers from the monastery.
In an open vehicle, Father Fabio was blessing the people who were stationed next to the road, while showing the relics. In the chapels of the communities, groups of people had made posters asking Blessed Carlo for his intercession.
The procession continued on foot from one of the city squares to the main church. The streets were adorned with posters with the image of the blessed and banners asking for his his intercession. There were three relics of the blessed that visited Guaraciaba, including one of
first degree, consisting of Carlo's hair, which will visit several parishes and Diocese in a Caravan of Faith on the occasion of the vocational year.
On Sunday 22 a Eucharist was celebrated in the contemplative Monastery and thenthere was a special meeting with the young people. The main message has been that all Christians are called to holiness, the importance of the practice of the sacraments and that Holiness is possible at any age, in every circumstance and moment of life.
Carlo Acutis (London, England, 1991 - Monza, Italy, 2006) was beatified in October 2020. Computer enthusiast, faithful devotee of the Eucharist and with a supportive heart, he died of leukemia while still a teenager. He practiced the sacraments on a daily basis and showed enormous strength and confidence in the most tragic consequences of his unexpected illness.
His mother described it this way: “His journey revolved around Jesus, who was at the center. The people who allow themselves to be transformed by Jesus and have this strong friendship with God challenge the others radiate the image of God”.
The miracle that allowed Carlo's beatification was an inexplicable healing of a child of Mato Grosso do Sul, in Brazil, sick with annular pancreas.
