TeleTica visits the City of Children

A team from the "Good day" program of Cantal 7 of Teletica broadcast live from the socio-educational center of the Augustinian Recollects in Costa Rica for the entire country. For almost 10 minutes the project was described and the solidarity and collaboration of society with the most vulnerable people was promoted.

When the admissions period for the 2023 academic year has arrived, the Children's City, a socio-educational project of the Augustinian Recollects located in Agua Caliente de Cartago (Costa Rica) dawned in the homes of many Costa Ricans through one of the main communication channels television of the Central American country.

Channel 7's “Good day” program contains a section called “Good news”. On the day of August 8th, around nine in the morning, the work of comprehensive education promoted by the City of Children among its beneficiaries was the "good news" of the day.

The editor Carolina Monge and the cameraman Jonathan Granados were the architects of a live broadcast of almost 10 minutes. It began in the facilities of the Agustinian Technical College, showing its corridors and the playing fields where sports activities were taking place, and then entering a classroom where a music rehearsal was taking place.

The tour then continued towards the part of the complex destined for the professional training workshops, and the cameras even entered the Precision Mechanics and Electronics workshops, where it was possible to see several students with their monitors.

In addition to all this visual information, viewers had the testimony of several people from the City's human team. Thus, from the communication area, with Gonzalo Araya, viewers were explained a little about the history of the Children's City, the goals it pursues, the means it has, its financing and its institutional relations.

The workshop monitor Leonardo Gutiérrez guided the spectators through the workshops; He explained what technical specialties are contained in the professional training offers within the City of Children and recalled that it also has the support of various companies in which all students complete their practical training.

The student Brandon Medina, who will graduate in a few months and is currently studying Automobile Mechanics, explained his experience regarding the comprehensive education he has received during his six-year stay in the City and explained the importance of the role of the Area Comprehensive Accompaniment (ACAI).

Finally, one of the technicians from Ciudad de los Niños explained the admission process, the most important requirements and encouraged Costa Rican families with less means and who believe they do not have training opportunities for their children to consider this option.
