Colegio Romareda wants to participate in the rescue of the planet

The program "Schools 2030: Rescuers of the Planet", to which the educational community of the Colegio Romareda de los Agustinos Recoletos in Zaragoza (Spain) has just joined, seeks to bring educational centers closer to the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The members of the Zaragoza educational community will thus seek to become true agents of change by applying Service Learning, a technique in which academic content is acquired from practical experiences linked to community service.
It is about learning with social utility because the objective of learning is implicit in achieving a more just, inclusive, supportive, and sustainable world. The objectives pursued by joining the "Rescuers of the Planet" program are:
- Add the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda to the classroom in the different subjects and with a global, practical, realistic, and practical approach without departing from the theoretical curricular content.
- Strengthen the social meaning of education.
- Promote the leading role of the educational community as a promoter of the change that the Planet needs.
- Increase everyone's participation.
- Expand the classroom by multiplying learning experiences through educational, collaborative, face-to-face and virtual methodologies.
- Teaching to learn better, optimizing academic results and increasing student motivation towards their own learning.
- Improve society's perception of young people and adolescents
This project will begin with the current students of the first year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and will advance as they move up the course; Starting in September, new first-year students will enter the program and second-year students will continue, deepening what they already know and learning new things.
This will also encourage students to be recognized as critical thinkers, change agents, innovators, communicators, and leaders. Another world is possible with people who, in their environment and in their own behavior, practice those values and actions that change our way of relating to the Planet and to others.
