Guadalupe Jiménez Sermeño, an Augustinian Recollect nun, expresses how she felt about her temporary religious profession.
Sister Guadalupe reflected:
"After a long period of formation (aspirant, postulant and novice) in
my community of Augustinian Recollects of the Holy Angels monastery, I could finally
realize my dreams, offering my life to God through the contemplative life in
where the main apostolate is prayer and chanting of the Liturgy of the Hours. The Liturgy of the Hours is one unceasing prayer of intercession and passion for Jesus and for humankind.
The Lord has given me the grace of perseverance, for which I want to manifest my
thanksgiving to Him and to the people who have accompanied me in this spiritual journey. I'm seeking holiness front and center. It is a daunting goal, but with God’s Grace nothing is impossible!
Paraphrasing the words of the Apostolic Constitution, Vultum Dei quaerere, I pray that my consecrated life may be an uninterrupted prayer where I can daily discover Almighty God as the treasure of my life! I have chosen the best part. I hope to value it more and more every day.
“Let it be done to me according to your word”: These were Mother Mary's words in responding to the Annunciation by the Archangel, Gabriel. With these words, I want to commence the account of the day of my profession of temporary vows that took place on October 23. A week before I had my spiritual exercises, that made me aware of how, throughout our lives, God manifests to us his will, love, mercy, and grace and, after atime, the precise moment arrives where it offers a diverse path to the one to whom it is offered. I am blessed to have been chosen by the Lord to answer His call!
At 1:00 pm, on October 23, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated, presided by Monsignor Herculano Medina, Vicar of Consecrated Life of the Archdiocese of Morelia, Michoacán. Happily, I was surrounded by many family members and friends and other religious men and women.
I thank God for his infinite mercy and kindness he has shown to me and for the abundant gift of a vocation to the Augustinian Recollect contemplative life." Praise the good Lord! Amen!
