Inauguration of the fourth centenary of the Province of St. Nicholas of Tolentino in the Latin American Chaplaincy of London
Although the original plan was to join the three communities of England in a single celebration, by various circumstances, the Augustinians Recollects Frs Carlos Abajos, Gerardo Cortés and Joseph Shonibare - missionary in Pauiní, Amazonas, Brazil, who had to pass quarantine in the community - had to remain in London. For this reason, the opening celebration was held with a triduum single: on Thursday the 10th, Mass of the patron saint of the Province, Saint Nicholas of Tolentino; on Friday the presentation of the "centenary" was held and on Saturday there was a holy hour.
During Thursday's Eucharist, Fr. Charles invited the congregation to meditate on the figure of the Province’s patron saint, and he held the rite of ‘blessing the bread rolls’ of St Nicholas, a symbol that always pleases the faithful.
On Friday afternoon, in a simple act, the reason for the anniversary was briefly presented from the poster and the logo that will accompany the celebrations throughout the year.
On Saturday, together with the celebration of the Eucharist, there was an hour of prayer before the BlessedSacrament. In an atmosphere of prayer and praise, attendees had the opportunity to remember their call to participate in the mission of the church.
