"Put love in the things you do and things will make sense. Take back that love and they will become empty"
Hello! We're Adriana and Eduardo. We have been married for eighteen years and are parents to three wonderful daughters, Aitana, Camila and Maria. We were born in Colombia, although we emigrated 20 years ago to Spain where our daughters were born.
In 2015 we decided to come and live in London, perhaps looking for new job opportunities and, of course, strengthen a new language. And it was since then that we met the Latin American Chaplaincy led by the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
At first it was not easy to adapt to a new culture, especially for our daughters; however, having felt the charism and hospitality on the part of the friars it was a great blessing for us as a family.
From the beginning our experience was very positive: we shared the masses in Spanish, participated in the activities scheduled by the Chaplaincy and gradually we became more involved with the different groups.
Certainly one thing that encouraged us and made a lot of sense was to see the availability of the friars in the service of the Church by putting so much love in everything they did, thus transmitting Augustinian spirituality and inviting us to live the gospel more by working together to better serve.
And this is how our hearts were restless and in search of transmitting the gospel being a faithful witness to the love of God, being part of this great Augustinian-Recollect Family, sharing it with joy and confidence, but above all maintaining a spirit of openness, collaboration, mutual help and supporting each other in unity and charity.
As time passes we have experienced that if we withdraw love in what we do, we will feel empty, and it is necessary to die to oneself to be born to us and find our reason for being. In this way we will attend to PopeFrancis' call, "to help build a society that is able to know the dignity of each person and to share our gifts."
For the past four years we have been collaborating mainly in the England prison visiting group, the marriage support group, as extraordinary Eucharistic ministers, and also being part of the wonderful CEAR-London team.
The Lord calls us to carry out his project of love in fidelity until death; we have been created by love to love and accompany others to help them fulfill their vocation and mission as a Church throughout the world.
