Appointment of the merger commission for the Provinces of St Nicholas of Tolentino and St Augustine
In his first protocol of 2017, the Prior General of the Order has appointed the commissions responsible for the merger of the Recollect provinces and he has asked the religious to be âtrue creators of communion, with everything that implies concerning openness to the Spirit, and availability for community life and for evangelizationâ.

of the year 2017, in which he appoints the three commissions
which will take charge of “preparing a restructuring
plan (for the merger of provinces), respecting the gradual nature of the process, and drawing up a life and mission project which takes into account the particular reality of the new province”, according to the protocol itself.
There are three commissions, one each for the three ongoing merger procedures: the Provinces of St Nicholas of Tolentino
and of St Augustine
; the Provinces of Our Lady of the Candelaria
and Our Lady of Consolation
; the Provinces of St Thomas of Villanueva
, St Joseph
, and St Rita of Cascia
. The General Chapter itself had requested the appointment of the commissions:
shall be appointed for each merger of provinces. This shall be under the leadership of the Prior General, and will organize the process of unification
and prepare the provincial chapter
. The commission shall be made up of the priors provincial and other religious from the provinces”, according to point A4 of the Order`s Life and Mission Project 2016-2020.
The commission appointed for the merger between the provinces of St Nicholas of Tolentino
and of St Augustine
is made up of six members, three from each province. For the province of St Nicholas of Tolentino, the members are the prior provincial (Sergio Sánchez
), the provincial vicar (Rafael Mediavilla
) and the provincial secretary (Benjamín Miguélez
). For the province of St Augustine
, there are the three religious who hold the same offices: Michael Rafferty
(prior provincial), Marlon Beof
(provincial vicar), and Frederic Abiera
This commission will meet over the 25th and 26th April
in the provincial curia building of the province of St Augustine in West Orange

At the same time as appointing the three commissions and fixing the place and date of their forthcoming meetings, the prior general has asked the religious to have an attitude of “going out with joy to offer the best of ourselves and of each province so as to move forward both in the creation of new realities for the provinces and in the Order`s mission”.
